Growing up in San Francisco, I was raised by a strong role model- my mother, a dedicated nurse whose compassion and resilience continuously inspired me since a young age. Her commitment to caring for others sparked my own interest in nursing. Since high school, I dipped my toes into healthcare by volunteering with Red Cross and researching healthcare policies. It was through my focused efforts that I had the privilege of attending the University of San Francisco for my Bachelors of Science in Nursing.
Throughout my BSN program, I discovered that nursing is not just a profession- It’s a calling. Nursing combines critical thinking, advocacy, and empathy in a way that deeply resonates with who I am and who I strive to become. Every course, clinical rotation, and patient interaction I've faced challenges and reinforces my belief that this is the path I’m meant to follow.
As a new graduate nurse, I may be at the beginning of my professional journey, but I bring with me a strong academic foundation, meaningful hands-on experience, and a genuine passion for helping others. I’m excited to grow, learn, and make a difference with my own two hands and feet.
CHASING CHILDHOOD DREAMS
The following video, produced by the San Mateo Credit Union, asked students at Marjorie H. Tobias Elementary School in Daly City what their dream careers would be. I appeared in the video from 11:45 to 11:49, sharing my childhood dream of becoming a nurse. Looking back on this memory, it’s astonishing to see how that dream, spoken so simply as a child, became my current reality. With years of hard work, dedication, and a deep desire to care for others, I steadily followed my passion into nursing. Today, I’m proud to say that I’m living the dream I've continuously voiced since I was a child.
Having recently earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Public Health Nurse certification, my immediate goal is to gain valuable clinical experience and grow as a competent, confident bedside nurse. I’m excited to enter the workforce, build a strong foundation in patient care, and learn from seasoned professionals in the field.
Over time, I hope to take on opportunities that will strengthen my leadership and clinical skills. I’m also passionate about health equity and plan to stay connected to my community by volunteering as a nurse with local organizations to serve underserved and uninsured populations.
After 3 to 5 years, I plan on pursuing a master’s degree in nursing, ideally through a flexible part-time or online program. My long-term goal is to become a clinical nursing professor, ideally teaching med-surg and/or fundamentals of nursing, inspired by the dedicated educators who generously shared their knowledge and helped shape my current nursing journey!
My vision board for 2025, "Momentum," captures the energy and forward motion of my journey as a newly graduated BSN nurse. It reminds me that every small step, whether it’s practicing my skills, asking questions, or caring for a patient, is building my confidence and clinical competence. This vision board reflects my commitment and eagerness to keep moving forward, even when things feel challenging or uncertain. It celebrates progress over perfection and honors the courage it takes to grow in a demanding and rewarding profession. With every experience and every moment of self-reflection, I gain strength and clarity, refueling the momentum that will carry me toward becoming the nurse I am meant to be.
